Domain Registration
Registering your domain name is a necessary part of creating an online presence. eg. www.mydomain.com or www.mydomain.ie.
There are two types of domain.
- Open Domains - .com, .net and .org are open domains which are sold on a first come first served basis, and anyone can register one
- Controlled Domains - The .ie domain is specifically for Ireland and it is a controlled domain - you have to meet certain criteria before you can register it
To register a domain you need to firstly check its availability (perform search above). If your name is available you should immediately register it. To register you will need to provide your contact details and those of your technical and billing contact.
